when my mom got divorced she was 28/29, i was 9/10 years old

gowns:

here are the songs that she would turn up and sing along to when she was going through the divorce

  • natalie imbruglia - torn
  • third eye blind - how’s it gonna be
  • jewel - who will save your soul
  • sarah mclachlan - i will remember you
  • green day - good riddance
  • no doubt - don’t speak
  • sugar ray - every morning
  • citizen king - better days
  • everlast - what it’s like
  • meredith brooks - bitch
  • carly simon - you’re so vain
  • fleetwood mac - landslides

i remember my mum playing a few songs on repeat endlessly including

* running up that hill - kate bush

* get out of this house - shawn colvin

* he thinks he’ll keep her - mary chapin carpenter

* smooth operator - sade

* difficult woman - renee geyer

also omg! that song is sugar ray! ive been wondering since the 90s  when my friends older brother would play it and i have never looked it up

Tell me, do you like Neutral Milk Hotel?
Their early tapes were a little experimental for my taste, but when Avery Island came out in ‘96, I think they really came into their own, both commercially and artistically. The whole album has a fuzzy, trumpety sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalsim that really gives the songs a big boost. He’s been compared to Four Volts, but I think that Jeff has far more crazed, over-the-top vocals.
In ‘98 Jeff released this, In The Aeroplane Over The Sea, their most accomplished album. I think their undisputed masterpiece is “Holland, 1945”, a song so catchy, most people probably don’t listen to the lyrics. But they should, because it’s not just about Jeff Mangum’s obsessions with Anne Frank, it’s also a personal statement about abuse and incest brought about by his dad!
Hey Paul!

oh my god.

Crying so hard over Ros.

Me too. Getting close to the limit of my tolerance as far as the showrunners’ love of sexual/sexualised violence is concerned (which exists in the book, but not to “HBO” levels). Why bother to invent a new character, have viewers become invested in her, and then fridge her so unceremoniously? So sick of women - and especially sex workers - serving as little more than props to demonstrate male characters’ evil qualities.

BIO-HAZARD—”When bad bios happen to good people…”
#33: Bio As Artist Manifesto Totally Absent of Any Concrete Facts (aside from the part about her having been “meditating for the past 15 years”— which, now that I think of it, might explain a few things here…)
My advice: unless you’re a chemist (or a bad dentist), avoid the world “amalgam.”

oh my god, all my artists statements sound like this
from the second sentence to the fourth sentence could be directly paraphrasing me
i must be the worst kind of person
although, i dont know, it says she does photography/video/performance and uses herself and her body as the subject. and its about physically being in the world/emotional and empathetic response. so its not that vague?
